Germans Build World's Strongest Robot

KUKA Robotics, a German industrial robot manufacturer, has created what is being hailed as the world's largest and strongest robot (though, the governor of California may beg to differ). The KUKA KR 1000 Titan 6-axis robot (try saying that 10 times fast ... in German) has a total of nine motors; together, these are said to deliver the power of a mid-sized car, giving it a payload capacity of roughly 2,200 pounds. Along with its reach of 10.5 feet, the Titan will be used to move stuff like engine blocks, marble and stone and components for ships and aircraft.

"This new robot can be implemented in applications which until now required at least two robots, lift stations or other lifting equipment, thus saving valuable floor space and increasing efficiency," said Stuart Shepherd, president of KUKA Robotics Corporation.

Oh, and if there's one thing the Germans get psyched up more about than their David Hasselhoff, it's efficiency.
